Tyga: No Introduction
While most young people are dancing to the likes of Soulja Boy and Dem Franchize Boyz, there are a select few looking for a change in the musical climate. Well that breath of fresh air has blown through because there is a new artist on the scene who goes by the name of Tyga.....oh wait. He said he needed no introduction.
Although he made his entrance with the song "Coconut Juice" featuring Travis McCoy of the Gym Class Heroes, the album shows a little more versatility in his skill. What sets him a part from his peers is his delivery and play on words. "Teenage Crush" and "Pillow Talkin" are two standout records and well as the ode to nostalgia, "Summertime". Tyga boasts about the fact he makes feel good music and after a few listens you most likely will be doing the same thing. I like the fact that I could not immediately compare him to any of his peers in the rap game of today, so this gives me hope that he will deliver the goods and stick around for awhile. However, I did kind of get an Andre 3000 feel and at one point, Kanye West.
Seeing that Tyga is of a different breed and not one of the many new faces "crankin" everything from the batman to the spiderman, he may fall upon deaf ears. However, he has put together a solid debut and shouldn't be looking to write a farewell speech anytime soon.
